Lamps, Art, and Sauna

On Saturday, June 5 we started out in the morning by enjoying breakfast at a local pastry and coffee shop. Our waitress took a moment to get the joke when I told her "Excuse me, I ordered the large coffee".

We walked a bit more around Amsterdam and found a lovely shop selling Tiffany-style lamps based on traditional and original designs. The owner, Peter Scherpenzeel, has a website at http://www.tiffanylampstudio.com.

The rest of the day was spent at the modern art museum where we saw works by Mondriaan, Malevich, Picasso, Van Gogh, Maplethorpe, a multimedia installation by Brian Eno, and an extensive collection of works by David Salle.

On Sunday, June 6 we spent the entire day enjoying the facilities and excellent food at the Sauna Van Egmond. This was an incredibly relaxing way to end our stay in the Netherlands.

That evening we took an overnight train to Paris, France.
