Among the few extant musical works of Zarlino are a four-voice Mass which exists only in manuscript.

Zarlino, also known as Zarlinus Clodiensis, was an extremely learned Italian theorist and composer. His theoretical works lend great insight to the philosophical, modal, and contrapuntal practices of the late Renaissance. He was a student of Adriaan Willaert. His music and theoretical ideas influenced the work of Andrea Gabrieli.
