Dagfinn Koch was born in Kristiansund in Norway in 1964. He has studied musical composition at the Norwegian State Academy ogf Music in Oslo under Prof. Lasse Thoresen, Orchestration under Prof. Olav Anton Thommessen and Viola under Ass. Prof. Otto Berg; and musical composition at Hochschule der Künste Berlin under Prof.dr.h.c. Witold Szalonek.
He has written chamber music, electro acoustic music, symphonic music, music for wind band and music for stage, commissioned by various orchestras and foundations. He has recieved several scholarships, and has been a member of the Norwegian Society of Composers (Norsk komponistforening) since 1990. He is now living in Lübeck, Germany.
